Royal Gorge Bridge

Linda and I drove across the Royal Gorge about 20 years ago. So when we left Canyon City on the way to Durango, we did not pass up the chance to drive across it again.

There have been a lot of changes. Before, we just drove across and turned around and drove back. There was little promotion of the location and not much business. This time, they charged $25.00 per person in the car to drive across. Fortunetaly it was Mother's Day, so Linda went across free. Since I was a senior, I got a $2.00 discount.

 

It was against the rules, but I stopped on the bridge and took a picture straight down toward the railroad we had rode.

 

The next few pictures are from the road after we had left the Royal Gorge Bridge area headed to Durango.

When we crossed the summit of Wolf Pass, the altimeter on our GPS showed that we were at 10,857 feet altitude.
