Autobiography of Lillie Mae Tyler Talley
I married Melvin
Talley, in August, before our senior year of school.
We have a daughter named Sheila.
She gave us a grandson named Bobby Joe.
Sheila is married to Joe Williams and lives in Porter.
My grandson is a junior at New Caney High School.
I had a longtime
career in the comptrollers department of Texaco, of which I retired in
October, l993. We lived in
Houston for several years before moving to our home, here in Porter,
thirty years ago. My husband
became ill early in our marriage. He
passed away six years ago. A
few years ago, my mother became ill and unable to live alone.
She came to live with us. I
cared for her another five years after my husband's death.
She passed away two years ago.
I now spend time
just taking care of myself and our home.
However, I am currently taking a course to become a hospice
volunteer. I fellowship with
different groups of friends and my church.
This sums up my
years after school at Smiley. I
have been blessed, and I give God the thanks.
Lillie Mae
